Bylaws for Get On It Racing
Adopted January 1, 2004
Amended January 4, 2008
Article I - Name, Purpose, and Emblem
- Section 1: Name
The name of the club shall be GET ON IT Racing (GOI Racing).
- Section 2: Purpose
The purpose of Get On It Racing shall be to promote and encourage the customization of automobiles for street cruising, sanctioned racing and to bring together the owners of those automobiles in friendship.
- Section 3: Emblem(s)
- Section 4: Non Profit Organization
GOI Racing shall not distribute any net earnings to any of its members, officers, or other private persons. The Club shall only remit payment for a service if it furthers the purpose set forth in Article I, Section 2. GOI Racing shall not undertake in any activities that is not permitted by a non-profit organization according to the Internal Revenue Service.
Article II - Membership
- Section 1: Qualifications
Membership is open to anyone wanting to further the purpose (Article I, Section 2) of the club. Owning a vehicle is not mandatory. All prospective members will go through a 30 day probation period in which the Council will decide if the person shall be granted membership.
- Section 2: Families of Members
Member’s immediate family members are invited to participate in Get On It Racing activities, but only the member is allowed member privileges and voting rights.
- Section 3: Dues
- Members must pay a $20.00 fee for each one year term, January 1 through December 31, for membership in Get On It Racing. At the discretions of the governing council, dues may be pro-rated for members depending on their date of induction.
- Members who have not paid their dues by the March meeting will be removed from Get On It Racing.
- If a member should quit and/or be dismissed from Get On It Racing, their yearly fee is non-refundable.
- Section 4: Conduct
All members shall conduct themselves in a socially accepted manner at all GOI Racing activities or functions sponsored by the Club.
Article III - Governing Body
- Section 1: Council
The governing body for Get On It Racing will consist of four, club-elected members known as the Council. The Council shall be the sole decision makers on new membership applications, though each member will be allowed to express his/her thoughts, opinions, and feelings for consideration by other Council members. Council Members shall be elected through a majority vote annually.
- Section 2: Treasurer
There will also be a position of Treasurer to oversee the finances for Get On It Racing. This position will be filled on a volunteer basis. If more than one member volunteers, the decision shall be made by the council with input from other members. Any objections to the person holding this position should be brought to the Council for review.
- Section 3: Webmaster
There will also be a position of Webmaster to oversee the operation of the website and its contents for Get On It Racing. This position will be filled on a volunteer basis. If more than one member volunteers, the decision shall be made by the council with input from other members. Any objections to the person holding this position should be brought to the Council for review.
Article IV - Meetings and Participation
- Section 1: Meetings
Meetings will be held on the First Friday of each month at a time and place to be determined by the Club. Day, time and location may be subject to change from time to time. Meetings are not mandatory for membership, however, attendance is encouraged.
- Section 2: Participation
Members of Get On It Racing are required to attend at least one Get On It Racing sponsored event per fiscal year.
- Section 3: Voting
Each member shall be entitled to one vote on each matter submitted for a vote. Members cast their vote through the Get On It Racing Forum, however, all decisions will be made final by the Council. Council decisions can be over-turned by a 2/3 majority vote of all members of Get On It Racing.
Article V - Fiscal Year
- Section 1: Dates
The fiscal year of the Club shall commence on the first day of January and end on the last day of December.
Article VI - Amendments
- Section 1: Amendment Policy
These bylaws may be amended by a majority vote of members provided that the proposed changes to the bylaws are made available for a period of 10 days before voting can begin.
